History project

When people think of plant and equipment hire, it’s yellow plant that generally springs to mind. Busy construction sites full of noisy excavators, dirt and dust. Not everyone realises that plant and equipment hire businesses service many other sectors.

Our recent project with the Corinium Museum in Cirencester is a lovely example. Rare fragments of a Roman mosaic were being displayed together for the first time since they were unearthed over 200 years ago. Pieces had been held in storage at the British Museum and Bristol Museums for centuries and had only been on display for very short durations. The Corinium Museum’s Director, Emma Stuart, was thrilled the mosaic is finally reunited and on public display, which was made possible by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
To put the display together, the team at the museum needed some access equipment. As they would self-profess, they were little versed in plant, so one of Hyra’s keen Account Managers, Steven, took the time to guide them through the process and consider the equipment best suited for the job. They subsequently hired two towers to give them the height and access they needed to mount the display, as well as a pallet stacker. Steven went to extra lengths to source a manual pallet stacker which was more suitable for the task due to the fragility of the ancient pieces.
Emma at the Corinium Museum was really pleased with Steven’s work. She commented that the team at Hyra were ‘incredibly accommodating’ and that Steven ‘addressed many last minute requests’ and ‘did all he could to get the equipment we needed’. After the project Emma sent pictures of the work in progress, keen for Steven to ‘see the project he helped keep on track’.
Thank you Emma for your feedback. Steven loved working on this project with you and playing his small part in your Roman history display!
